Badia a Coltibuono Chianti Classico 2004

May 07, 2010

Badia a Coltibuono Chianti Classico 2004. A decent effort for Chianti, with very earthy, almost dirty aromas overlaying the cherry berry fruit.  The palate is light and elegant, with nice layers of flavors, but again  an earthy almost dirty tone to the fruit.  I liked it well enough, but it didn't thrill me.

At $35, it was overpriced for the quality I found in the bottle. If you find it for less, or someone brings it for free, it is a decent drink.  The fruits are there, and the earthy dirty tones require food to keep them in check.

Cheers,
