Argentine Fest @ Central Market 2: Zuccardi Malbec 2007

May 12, 2010

Second sample of Argentina Fest at Central Market. Zuccardi Malbec 2007, Mendoza.

A more rustic, earthy Malbec than last night's. Much more earth and tar on the nose, with a deeper darker fruit.  The palate is much less elegant and much more bold. A bit chewy in texture, with thick tannins and dark earthy almost mushroom fruits of plum and black cherry.

No shy wine this. It screams for meat off the grill, slathered in Chimichurri with lots of pepper and garlic. Those who love the California Tough Guys and "Big Dogs" will very much dig this wine. I personally found the brashness and earthyness a tad off putting, but I tend to be the minority opinion.

If you love em big n bold:

Buy and Drink this Wine!
