Value priced Tuscan Red to pair with Pizza for a casual Sunday dinner

January 17, 2010

Decided to do home made pizza for dinner. Picked an old standby favorite of mine. Monte Antico Toscano Rosso 2006. Vintage in, vintage out, this wine is always a great choice.  At $12-13 per bottle, it's an easy choice as well. Heck, I turned my late Dad onto this one a couple of years back and he bought it every time he went out to eat Italian!

Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet blend. Heavy on the Sangio. Bright red/black cherry tones, a hint of earth and solid easy acids make this a perfect pairing with pizza, pasta with red sauce, Chicken Cacciatore, Chicken Parm, well, heck, most meat based or tomato based Italian foods....

Glad to be back on track!

Cheers,
